Born and raised in Orlando, Florida, Gomez is a freelance Stage Director and Librettist focused on opera and experimental projects.
As a Librettist and Writer, Gomez wrote her inaugural libretto for a work entitled The Orange Days in collaboration with composer Nicole Knorr. They workshopped the piece together in November 2025 at their alma mater, The University of North Florida.
As a director, Gomez’s style is described as tender and heartfelt. Recent Directing highlights include Handel’s Silla for Chicago Summer Opera this past Summer 2025, as well as Ravinia Festival’s Concert Series Stage Director, and Lyric Opera’s Ryan Opera Center Scenes Program. A Florida native, she directed Bold City Opera’s inaugural performance of Puccini’s Suor Angelica
Her work as an Assistant Director has brought her to the Glimmerglass Festival, Rice University, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Chicago Opera Theatre, Utah Opera, the Jacksonville Symphony and this season, the Metropolitan Opera.
Her training includes two prestigious and new programs: The Ryan Opera Center’s Stage Director and The Metropolitan Opera’s Directing Fellowship. A graduate of the University of North Florida, she studied voice and choral music.
The fact of the matter is, humans don’t make narrative sense. We do weird and nonsensical things, and I find that the more we explore and showcase humanity at both it’s more naturalistic and its most extreme, the closer we get to touching the audience’s soul, mind, and heart. Opera has been the most aligned medium for me to explore this, and I think directing is my way of showing love to these small moments that compile into memories, that compile into our livelihood.
